@gtx Maybe grow lettuce in big pots or raised beds to cut down on weeds and pests! I think it is an excellent idea. We also have grown swiss chard and it is easy and good. As I remember you can cut it and it regrows.
What I have been thinking is doing more chopped salads in the future and using fewer greens.

@Sooner That is exactly what I was thinking. I grow everything in pots. I have two pots and potting soil just waiting for cooler temperatures in Texas. I am going to give it a try.
My cucumber and one tomato is from Robertas at QVC. Next year I will get two of each if they have them. I have a Sweet 100s tomato plant in a large pot in the flowerbed. It is huge and still making tomatoes and they are so delicious.
The cucumber from Robertas is the small cucumber that is so good.

I had some Taylor Farms shredded lettuce in fridge and threw it out yesterday unopened. Went and bought the Walmart brand that I normally buy anyway and had my usual night time salad.

@beckyb1012 I just read this about the lettuce from Walmart. Not sure if this is the Walmart brand that you bought and ate.
Recalls: Taylor Farms voluntarily recalled iceberg lettuce shipped to 27 states, including New Jersey. This also affects popular brands like Marketside sold at Walmart.

Thanks but I am enjoying my salad every night. The Texas Dept of State Health Services as shown the numbers for this same thing every summer from May 1st to Aug. 31st since 2012. This is not new but yearly in places of our country.
