I heard a few days ago this was coming from Taco Bell. While walking in the parking lot yesterday from car to the grocery store I decided to stick to my original grocery list with shredded lettuce and a roma tomato. Going tomorrow morning to my usual farm market stand for a noonday onion. When I read this as been happening every summer in parts of the country at least since 2012 I am not going to freak about it.

another reason i do not eat at fast food restaurants. its either taco bell or chipotle with these outbreaks.
i eat very simply with whole foods and no prepackaged anything.
eg: salmon, sweet potato and veggies
chicken on a salad
Bean Salad, which could eat everyday, just
the best!!
old fashioned organic oats for breakfast
eggs and avocado for breakfast...
berries, apples, oranges...
you get the idea... simple food, unprocessed.

The problem is that this stuff is in the things that are healthiest for us--raw produce. And it all goes to fast food places (who actually use lots of fresh vegetables on their products but not lots and lots--just enough to make you sick) and into our homes.
There is a catch 22 here in that farming is dirtier when it is organic. Crops have to be supplemented (fertilized) and the soil has to be enriched. Back in the olden days, one good way was when land was flooded (as in the Nile). Then chemical fertilizers. It's catch 22.

To blame Taco Bell is taking the east way out and making them the scapegoat.
I have never stepped foot in a Taco Bell, not even for a drink but I think they got this wrong.

@Sooner How do we replace salad? I eat salad everyday.

I usually eat one or two salads a day from salad kits. I finished my last one yesterday. I know I've purchased Taylor Farms a lot.
I took homemade soup and stuffed cabbage from deep freezer. It's 90something degrees but I'll be eating soup until this blows over (bad phrase - sorry!)

Why do so many restaurants use lettuce from Taylor Farms?
Taylor Farms stands as one of the largest fresh-cut produce suppliers in North America, offering consistent quality and scale for major chains. Their ability to supply huge volumes reliably makes them a primary choice for fast-food restaurants and grocery stores across the country. The company partners with over 100 farmer families to deliver consistent greens at a massive scale.
Can you list restaurants that get lettuce from Taylor Farms?
Major chains include Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Chipotle, Burger King, Subway, Wendy’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, Olive Garden, and Red Lobster. Taylor Farms also supplies hospitals, schools, cafeterias, and airline caterers alongside these restaurant clients. The company serves a broad spectrum of national foodservice clients to maintain wide distribution.

@gtx Today I made a salad with canned dark red kidney beans, canned corn and pimentos. I added spices, Kinder's blend spice, a dash of pickle pieces, red vinegar and olive oil, a little salt, and a dash of hot sauce. We had olives on the side, and a sandwich.
I will do cooked veggies until this is over, maybe steamed broccoli to get it hot enough to destroy the problem, red pepper strips and onion strips in with it, cool that and dress it like a salad--maybe pumpkin seeds, cashews or pistachio for crunch.
I will roast brussels sprouts and serve them cold with oil and balsamic vineger, maybe cauliflower roasted too. It makes a good cold salad with or without macaroni.
Cold rice with any of the above and salad dresing, or any grain as a basis--roasted carrots, etc.
I will miss it, but we will be fine until. . .

@Sooner Thank you for the wonderful suggestions. You are very creative! I will keep these ideas.
