Just saw this on my local news. What a nice story.

A former Colorado custodian is skyrocketing up the educational ladder, landing a gig as elementary school principal this year. Good for him !

In his 38 years of life, Stedman Elementary School's new principal Michael Atkins has spent more than 30 years as a part of the Denver Public Schools System......

I think that happened last year.  At least I saw a story like that last year.  It was inspirational.

What a cool success story, @MorningLover.  Hard work paid off, and it sounds like whether custodian, teacher or principal, he always had a heart for the kids.  Win-win!

I know a lady who started as a CNA (certified nursing assistant), and is now Director of Nursing, after earning a BSN and Masters.  Same employer throughout.  Amazing.

It does happen in a lot of industries.  My daughter knows many in the restaurant that started as dishwashers or servers and are now department managers.  One is a general manager.

That is a nice story.  Superintendent for the entire District next.  Of course that would probably remove him to far from the children's daily lives.  I have a feeling this man is dedicated to the children more than bureaucracy/paperwork of the schools.  Hard work and such a great heart.  I wish everyone who touches our children's lives could be this way.
