Why not teach them yourself? If my generation gets proactive (because this is their fear) than we should do something about it.

p.s.
It takes so much more time to print out notes and letters.
I don't enjoy using print (not cursive) when writing notes and short letters to several youngsters who aren't able to read cursive.
Just try NOT writing a note or letter in cursive. Very time consuming, and many more lifts of our pen.

Pennsylvania just mandated that all schools must teach cursive writing next year.

My handwriting teacher in grade school had very beautiful handwriting. She taught us students well. To this day I have had many compliments on my handwriting and have been asked to do many projects at businesses I have worked at over the years. Need to go back to those days the way they taught back then.

@proudlyfromNJ not sloppy handwriting if they are asking you to sign those electronic pads. No one could have nice handwriting on one of those things.

interestingly, my own adult children dont even write in cursive anymore even though they were taught. i have also noticed that if they HAVE to write, they print.
I've noticed the same thing about my 40-something children.

@Shelbelle @mormel20--They WILL be able to sign their names -- in print, which is a valid signature and functional writing method. Nothing pitiful about it!
