For those of us who enjoy classic rock or are considered 'A generation lost in space...' Enjoy

I knew what the lyrics meant but, I have to admit that I enjoyed the video.
Thank you for posting it. Yes, good music died that day. May they RIP.

Thanks for posting this. The song has been a favorite of mine since the first time I heard it and it is a song that nearly everyone sings along with. The link to the video brings back many memories....some bitter, some sweet. Thanks for the walk down memory lane

@jeanlake Thanks for posting. I went to youtube and watched the video. Don McLean was a lyical genius and put together a song that covered the history, music and otherwise, of my generation's teenage plus years . Brought back many memories - loved the music of those times. The videographer from Barcelona did an amazing job of putting together this video. When I was a teenager I had a boyfriend who looked like Buddy Holly, so obviously he was a favorite of mine. Gone much too soon.

I liked, and still like everything about that song. Seems pretty easy for me to understand. Generation lost in space? To me a lot of the music of today is "jamming"/loud noise, and some plain ole garbage.
I also like "Cats in a Cradle" by Harry Chapin. Not sure I got the point here, but added my comment, just because I guess!

One of my favorite songs ever!

I appreciate how the video went into detail about minor phrases and what was meant -- generation lost in space and the space race in the late 60s and 70s. Even racial movement and Elvis going to military service when Dylan and rock bands entered the music scene. Made sense once I reviewed the video. Interesting, transitional season.

Don McLean sold the transcipt of the lyrics for 1.2 million a few years ago.
An all time-favorite.
This video is an interesting take by the person who created it.

@jeanlake- thanks for posting this. I knew the connection to Buddy Holly - I was born and rasied a few miles from the plane crash site in Clear Lake, Iowa. But - I sure didn't understand some of the other symbolism, even though I grew up with the song.
