Crocus are (finally) blooming

Here at the Jersey Shore it is 58 degrees! Yesterday I had 1 crocus blooming. Today there are tons of them. It's almost as if someone planted them while we were sleeping.

It must be a wonderful sight to see!

Re: Crocus are (finally) blooming

My small bulbs are peeking up through the mulch. It's 50 degrees here today and I have the window open to bring in some fresh air.

Starting tonight, we are expected to get about 18 inches of snow in a 24 hour period....going down to 10 degrees.

Poor flowers!

Mine appeared several weeks early this year due to the warm weather & lack of snow.

Re: Crocus are (finally) blooming

My favorite harbinger of spring; they look so pretty, peeping their little heads over the snow.

A few weeks ago I bought some daylilies rhizomes at Costco, put them in the garage and forgot about them. I took a look at them this morning and they had started to grow, so I ran out and planted them. My DH got a little perturbed because he was afraid I'd hurt myself (muscle and joint issues) but like I pointed out to him, daylilies are indestructible. All you have to do it punch a hole in the ground, stick them in, and cover them back up. I can hardly wait to see them this summer!

I needed some spring color some cheering up....bought myself a planter of hyacinths at Costco the other day. They're on the kitchen table and smell SO GOOD!
