I have a store credit card, thru Comenity, and I had to return a couple of Christmas gifts last month. Anyhow, it showed a credit for the amount returned. Today I got a check from Comenity. Why do they send a check and just not leave it as a credit?

@catter70 That might be a policy for store cards vs major credit cards.  I had a credit on my Nordstrom card and after a few months they sent me a check.  I was surprised as I've never had that happen before.

@catter70

This has happened to me as well; Comenity has always refunded the amount of my credit return, so apparently they don't want the hassle of carrying that amount over until the next purchase.

I believe they have to return your money.  It's a consumer protection thing.

@catter70   Call Comenity & ask them.

Lol.....     She didn't want the real answer.  She wanted to hear what people would make up.

Nordstrom sent me a check...they don't like you to carry a credit on your account...so they just give you cash and you account is zeroed out. Guess it helps with their bookkeeping.

It's an accounting procedure.   A "credit" on a customer account, if carried too long, will end up as DEBT on the P&L statement.

As long as you got your refund, why do you care?
