I received one - not a Home Depot. It was from my bank and I was told the still current one was no longer useable and the new one with the chip was now my card. It was done as a 'just in case'. Remains to be seen.

I have a recent MasterCard with a security chip. So far the only store taking advantage of the chip is WalMart. For the other stores, I still have to swipe the magnetic strip.

I've had a British one for over a decade. It is not "much heavier" than a standard credit card. HSN won't accept foreign credit cards, but QVC doesn't have a problem with it. We went to Britain and Iceland a few years ago, and DH's US Amex card wouldn't work in the Icelandic gas pumps, but my Euro card was fine. Remembering the PIN is the hard part.

I do not notice that my chip card is heavier than my other card.
