Creating a hyperlink.......

How do you create a hyperlink? I have seen a word come up instead of the website name and am not sure how that is done. Say for instance a website's name is www.foodnetwork.com but the link you want to create is for pot roast. How do you ceate the link that would say pot roast and would bring you directly to the site and that particular recipe?
