I've seen this story on the news. We have bomb-sniffing dogs and cancer-sniffing dogs, so why not? I think it's ingenious for use in airports and other public places.

About the religious neighborhood? I call the word(s) choice or personal choice.
As far as positivity testing? More tests equals more testing positive. Those numbers to me are much less important than the number of deaths.
My attention is more focused on positive things concerning the ***** virus. Fewer deaths/higher percentage of survival in all age groups.
For me over 80, my % chances of surviving should I have the virus? That is 94.8% and for me to live my life my way? Close to 95% is good enough for me. My percentage chance of surviving my 1st heart attack with Aspiration Pneumonia? That was less than 50% and here I am.
My glass as seen by me is always "half full", for some others it always seems to be "half empty". My choice/ their choice.

@hckynut, it's funny that this overblown idea of "personal choice" seems to have superseded the former beloved "personal responsibility."
As for testing, more positives mean more cases. Period. The virus exists with or without testing.

I don't like the idea of the dogs getting Covid. Not only would it be cruel to the dogs, if it happened often enough it seems like it could encourage new mutations to the virus.
Could they possibly detect it from over 6 ft away? That might protect them more.

I am assuming you have never had the nasal swab done?
If you give me 15 mins I can get 127 people who would gladly have a dog sniff them DAILY for 30 days then to have another nasal swab ever.
Having a cotton tester guided so far up your nose that you can taste it and have it turned and turned while they count 15 seconds is horrible. I was one of the lucky ones, my nose did not start bleeding. Nor did I gag which I watched many.......
@Abrowneyegirl I had the deep swab and it was nothing as you describe.
People need to put on their grown-up panties and leave the dogs alone.
@Cakers3 I am THRILLED yours was great and very easy- perhaps you can let me know where you went. I have my 5th test scheduled for Wed this week and so far EVERYWHERE I went for my testing I have had the same experience.
I would be more than happy to go where your test was such a treat.
Doctors have always told me my pain threshold is very high. But even I find it hard to 'breathe through the pain' when I can not breathe.

@Abrowneyegirl My PCP did mine. Both swab and blood test. I received my results the next day.
I didn't say it was a treat, either. All I had were watery eyes with the swab and from what I have been told that means the test was done correctly.
I don't know why you keep having this test; a fifth one this week?
You seem to be hitting all the testing sites in your neck of the woods and I'm wondering why you need so many tests.
My GS had COVID-19 and didn't need a repeat or follow-up.
Whatever.

I'm just right now thinking...........
What if we have been, say, in a pharmacy or grocery store.
Or walking around where the virus is on our shoes and/or clothes.
Then, a dog comes up and sniffs that virus on our clothing. It wouldn't mean that we have the virus.
Only that the dog sniffed it on our clothing, especially our shoes or pants' lower leg area.
Just something to think about.

Speaking in generalities here, there are people who are paranoid about getting Covid, so they demand to be tested multiple times to make sure that they don't have it.

I don't understand how a person is on her 5th test.
Are there not regulations or do people just get in line any ol' place and get these tests whether they have symptoms or not???

I did NOT get 5 tests in 1 week.
Some of us work in industries where testing is mandatory and the frequency is dedicated by the county COVID rate of where we work. If the occurrence % increases and surpasses certain thresholds the testing required increases.
I would NEVER volunteer to be tested.
I avoid working in accounts in particular counties due to the testing requirements.
