We've been blessed with having to deal with this pandemic, we already had enough t.p. and Hubby has been retired for a year so we are used to a slower life. Grandkids live across the street so we are able to see them at a distance .

One subject I haven't read about is the effect all this has had on prescriptions. As usual we call in our renewal went over to WM to pick them up and was told 2 of them were on back order. Hubby said will you call Us when they come in. We were told it's going to be awhile. Hubby asked "What's a while" they said it could be months. They found 1 that hubby needed at a another store. So we went on a 4 hour road trip yesterday.

I started thinking about whose of you that take life threatening medications and aren't able to get them, what do you do.

Re: Covid-19 / Prescriptions

This is a concern of mine.

My mother is 87 and has serious heart health issues.

She lives 30 minutes from me. But she has one of my brother living with her and one of my sisters lives down the street. She does need a number of meds for this and a few other health issues.

Re: Covid-19 / Prescriptions

I made sure I had a 90 supply of my meds on hand when C-19 first started

Re: Covid-19 / Prescriptions

All of my prescriptions have been arriving in the mail like clockwork.  You need to have Walmart mail yours to you.  Contact your doctor about substituting another drug for one that is unavailable or try another store.

Re: Covid-19 / Prescriptions

You went to 1 WM. Then you drove a 4 hr round trip to yet another WM.

Call around. Local pharmacy? Online pharmacy? Another formulation? Checking with a Canadian pharmacy?

I already got the "letter" from Kaiser letting me know that the hydroxychloroquine that I take for 2 auto immune disorders will be in short supply.  I love being expendable.  This is an easily produced and cheap drug that's been around forever.  No reason for this.

Yes, there is a reason for this. "Somebody" had a hunch this drug would work for treating COVID-19. They are using it as a trial plus idiotic doctors are prescribing it, not paying attention that some ppl need this while they're trying to satisfy their patient's requests.

@sweetee2

I'm sorry you and DH are having to deal with this!

I would call around to other local pharmacies, drug stores, grocery stores, etc., it would be much easier to transfer you script to another local pharmacy.

Ordering online, US or Canada or a different formulation, would require a new script from your Dr.

Good luck and I hope you can find another local source!

@wishmoon

It's also being tested by other countries, adding to the shortage.

The Ebola vaccine is also being tested by several countries.
