I get a lot of headaches and for some reason, ice cream really helps. Has anyone else had this happen? and why would ice cream work better than aspirin or tylenol?

LOL! Whatever excuse works for you to justify your ice cream craving works just fine!

Who doesn't like ice cream, any excuse will do!

Me: "Honey, I have a headache, would you bring me that pint of mint chocolate chip?"

Just funnin' with ya'!

@PuppyLoverBob666  Actually ice cream can make my headaches worse. The cold goes up my sinuses and hurts my head sometimes.

I have never eaten so much ice cream as I have this year. I think it was a matter of finding flavors I really like and the consistency I like.

If eating it relaxes and soothes you and helps you then go for it.

@PuppyLoverBob666   I'm with you on this one!  Has to be at the first inkling of a headache coming on and I can only tolerate vanilla for this. I'm usually a Mocha chip fan.  As to Why it works I don't know.   I think I heard somewhere that some headachs are caused by blood vessles in the brain swelling up,  so maybe the ice cream helps to constrict those vessles.  I've got the usual meds on hand but Who doesnt like the thought of a bowl of "Medicinal" Ice cream?!

Do a google search " ice cream helps headaches. Yes, it does with some people. You can read the explanations why.

I would think it's the sugar in the icecream.  Have you discussed this with your doctor?  It could indicate low blood sugar or anything where sugar interacts with the blood.

Chances are, a candy bar would do the same for you, and I find comfort in having something cooler in temperature when I get a headache and find pressure helps me.

You've found a pretty good medication.

@ECBG  If you read the articles about this subject it has nothing to do with sugar. It has to do with the fact that ice cream is very cold
