Of course...
And the reporter of that story has said he used her words incorrectly. I'm not following the story enough to bother learning the difference.
I'm waiting for court to read details.
She said the words, but her intent was only to talk about his legacy. She doesn't want to concern herself with the women and their claims.

The McMartin case has no bearing on Cosby's predicament, sorry.

I agree & bet they've been paid quite handsomely too.

My husband and I watched part of that & both agree, she was very defensive and arrogant- like she's above everyone. Yep only talked about his legacy- she needs to wake up and smell the OOPS!

That shocked me, too .....
Just because Bill didn't attempt to drug and rape HER, then it must not have happened to others? Seriously?
Cosby was smart enough to do nothing to anyone in his "profit sphere" ....... just outsiders without much in the way of power or status.
He selected his prey very carefully ........ what a horrible excuse for a human being! ![]()

I don't think she was misquoted at all. I think people just ignored her actual words and chose to hear what they wanted to hear. And she should have expected that. She should have gone with the ever so popular ""no comment"".

Personally I think she should've just kept her mouth shut.

I don't think he was saying that it had anything to do with this. Another poster asked who would make this up and he was simply pointing out the instances where it was indeed made up. While I don't believe this particular case is at all, I know there have been cases where it was and to me that is horrible and frightening. I think the people who make up stories like this should serve jail time.

Exactly. The post I was responding to asked the question "Who would make this stuff up?" It turns out there are quite a few people who have in the past. The Brian Banks case is a perfect example. The McMartin preschool case was one with multiple parties claiming abuse. The Duke lacrosse case is another example of false accusations. Tawaney Brawley was another false accuser.
There are people who make this stuff up and there are quite a few of them. Several studies have been done and one (Rumney in 2006) suggests that 10%-50% of rape allegations are false. An earlier study done by Kanin in 1994 suggested that 40% of rape allegations were false. A study by Stewart in 1981 suggested that as many as 90% were false.
There's a recent case from the United Kingdom where a cab driver (Mohammed Asif) was accused of rape and only exonerated because he had a voice recording app on his cell phone running that recorded the entire trip. The accuser swore up an down that she'd been raped by him at knife point. It never happened. You don't have to look very hard to find lots of cases of false accusations of rape. It's a lot more common than many people think.
