What does your IP number have to do with them finding your real phone number? Do you have a listed phone number? Not sure I follow.

Hi, Deb! That's cool they noticed your post and wanted to follow up.

My question about the way they knew your real identity and phone number: When you signed in to post the review itself, did you sign in with the account from which you purchased it?

If so, since in your thread you posted an exact copy of your review, Bazaarvoice could've compared it to the review they rejected (or have under review) and identified your personal info from your purchase. Just thinking out loud.

Me too. It shows they do read these boards (at least the Q Talk forums).

No, I did NOT sign in with the account from which I purchased the item. They just ask a question about "did you purchased the item which you are reviewing", so it's on the honor system. It's really a mystery.

Somehow they detected the contact info I provided for this nickname was bogus, and they were able to find my real identity. I'm not sure if it's via cookies, or what. But somehow they were able to tie me to my real identity.

Several years ago a poster threatened to commit suicide and posted on the boards.

Someone called the Q and reported it. They were able to track down the poster thru their IP address. Don't recall more details.

I always thought that webbie was in a 3rd world country as it seemed some posts that went poof were misunderstood.

I'm not following how they can ID you just through your IP address. I've entered mine into those searches with names like "what does my IP tell about me?"...and it varies each time. It has never once id'ed the town where I actually live. It usually is within a 15 mile radius. So...how would they find me, based on that?
