The jewels and other royal treasures have been in the royal family for hundreds of years....so no one is going out and spending money acquiring millions in new jewels, etc. They treasure tradition so bring out the same jewelry and other royal trinkets and use them for many events.
I don't begrudge them anything at all. They are patrons of dozens of charities, foundations, and other causes and support them fully. If the monarchy is ever changed or re-aligned, it should be because that is what they want, not because Americans disapprove. We have no influence at all.

The poll was only open for voting for about 48 hours. If it had been ongoing, or perhaps open for a full week, the results possibly might have been different. Yet, for Harry to get such a high percentage in just two days clearly indicates many still like and support him.
I've always liked Harry and still do very much. No surprise here.
I used to really like harry. If you find some of his older interviews, as an adults but pre meghan, he is very charming, polite, and humble and respectful, kind and even showing gratitude when when talking about his family. The change is very sad.
I managed to see most of the coronation on replay. (cspan) I thought it was lovely. The choir music was so beautiful. That sword was gorgeous as was the jeweled orb.

I was in Scotland for the coronation, and due to difficulties finishing my editing work before traveling, I listened to it on BBC Scotland when I was doing that work (a long proofreading job). I skipped the waves from the balcony, as I wanted to go out for a walk, and did see the highlights the next day.
Very interesting background in the BBC coverage. I think I tuned in around 7:AM British time, and had it in the background as I worked for four or five hrs.
The history to be learned across 1000 years of monarchy (interrupted in the late seventeenth century) was fascinating.
I wish the current rulers well, but that wider perspective of British history shows how small any one family or individual plays in this system.
Charles and Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales looked a lot more comfortable at the concert the next night!

I can only think there is jealously more than a concern for the poor when the royals are trashed for their lavish lifestyle. They give millions to many charities every year...that is the life work for so many royals.

I would hate if my taxes paid for the monarchy. That's why we had a Revolution. That's why in America, we pay attention and make sure our our taxes are not wasted on superficial spending by our people in power.
I could understand Meghan & Harry leaving for that reason. But, their reasons are just ridiculous, and they're making money, like grifters, off their family and disgracing them. Hartry has let Meghan activism destroy him.
W/o a crystal ball, this marriage may last until their money making schemes run dry and Harry wakes up. Meghan will find many ways to harm the monarchy by making money off them.
