@Mom in NY    In my experience both will do a good job.  Shark is a disposable machine made to not be repairable.  Dyson is much better engineered, the company has great CS and they can be repaired.

Miele makes some rechargeable cordless vacs too. My friend has it and loves it. She let me try it and I did like it. Bonus, it stands up on its own anywhere!

Re: Cordless vacuums

[ Edited ]

@Mom in NY   Hi ...  I know this doesn't answer your specific question....   but, I've been using cordless vacuums for decades.  Are you looking for a handheld or upright.  We used to have Electrolux uprights (several of them) and when they stopped making them (company sold),  we switched to a Bissell Airram cordless.  It's one of the BEST cordless vacs we've owned.  We now have TWO!   It picks up even more than my big corded vac.

Highly recommend.

Good luck with your search.  I hope you like what you purchase.

@Mom in NY Dyson.  The Shark works ok but not as powerful and cheaply made.  I now use my Dyson everywhere instead of my Dyson upright even - it is that powerful!

I cant speak for Dyson I always thought they were overpriced for what they are.....I can tell you this JMHO but Shark has gone down in quality both corded and cordless and these days you are lucky if they last 2 yrs, cant be repaired either.....  I ended up getting a Eureka which has great suction....No more Sharks for me!

Had nothing but problems with my Dyson and repairs were expensive on top of the initial purchase price. I have sucha bed to a Shark and like it much better. Longer running time and picks up stuff the Dyson left behind.
