I grabbed the cinnamon once instead of the paprika to garnish my deviled eggs.

Early into our marriage we invited friends to dinner in our new home. I had a roast and rice pilaf. We were in the living room enjoying our drinks when I thought it was time to get ready to serve dinner. Well, I never turned the oven on. More drinks while I frantically used the microwave--dinner wasn't wonderful that night!!!!!!!! LOL

No real disasters....but one story my mother in law never let me live down. When I first got married, I wandered the store looking for "roux". {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

My son almost had a major disaster on his hands when he was cooking a romantic dinner for his girlfriend's birthday. Luckily he called Mom before he put the 3 HEADS of garlic he had chopped up into the recipe. Lol. He got an education on the difference between a clove of garlic and a head of garlic!! I think that could have put a real damper on his romantic evening, don't you think?{#emotions_dlg.scared}

{#emotions_dlg.lol} Those are great!

The "roux" one reminds me of when my oldest was a little girl. She and her bff went with me to the grocery store. They begged me to let them help so I told them to go find me some "Pet brand canned milk" After a time they came running up all excited. "We couldn't find "PET" but we got "Goat"!! {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

{#emotions_dlg.scared}....they sell goat milk in your grocery store? Where do you live? The Himalayas?

If I had to guess, though....I would have said that your worst cooking disaster would have to be a night when your husband wasn't there to cook!! {#emotions_dlg.devil2}

My son once poured the water and potatoes (for mashing) in the colander in the sink, then brought the colander to the counter and started mashing right in it.

I've had more disasters than I can even remember.

I remember buying a throw away foil like pan to roast a turkey in. But dummy me also put the plastic lid on it in the oven to roast. Needless to say, we had a plastic infused turkey that had to go in the trash. {#emotions_dlg.blushing}

My "specialty" so to speak is chicken paprikash. I make it every year for Christmas Eve dinner and a couple of times during the year. One time I thought I grabbed the corn starch to thicken my broth and sour cream mixture. But as I added the "corn starch and water" mixture, everything got really foamy and I couldn't figure out what happened. Then I looked at the box and realized I had grabbed the baking soda! {#emotions_dlg.scared}

Another time I was baking chocolate chip cookies. I removed the first cookie sheet of them from the oven and they were super flat, hard and super salty. I looked at the recipe trying to figure out what I had done and realized that instead of a 1/4 tsp. of baking soda, I used a quarter cup!

Lipstick ~ Are you a Magyar?? My DH is and I love chicken paprikash..lecho too!

I haven't had any accidents....go figure. One gross thing happened once......We had ordered in a pizza. I put some green dried spice on it....I looked at the pizza and it was moving!....the spice container was full of little bugs...grossed me out. DH was po'd because I ruined the pizza.
