I purchased some cooked frozen shrimp for a quick meal and it says to place in water for 7 minutes and then drain and serve.........I really don't like it cold so is it ok to cook a few minutes in olive oil? Thank you to the many chefs here.

yes, it is fine.....since they are already cooked just dont cook them too long because they will get rubbery.

Yep, what Sunshine said. Once you have thawed them out, if you want them warm, just put them in a hot pan with some olive oil or butter for only a couple minutes. If you overcook them they will get hard and rubbery and yucky.

What did you plan on doing with it?

When I get the precooked shrimp, I boil a pot of water with two thinly slices of a lemon, then put the shrimp in the water, cover it and TAKE IT OFF THE Burner, let stand for five minutes, drain and serve which ever way you choose.

I love shrimp but now only buy domestic shrimp. Less than 1% of imported shrimp are inspected by U.S. regulatory agencies. Some contain antibiotics. Some are contaminated with rat hair, pieces of insects, E. coli, salmonella, and pesticides.

It's much more expensive to buy domestic so I don't eat shrimp as much as I used to. I used to buy the deveined raw shrimp. I've never purchased cooked shrimp (except as shrimp cocktail). Since they don't take long to cook, I'd much rather just do it myself.

The shrimp has already been cooked........if you cook it, you will overcook it and it will be tough.........you might want to make cevichi with it, the lime juice will cook it a little more.............................raven

It is really best to buy raw shrimp if you want to eat them hot. I use Ina Garten's roasted shrimp recipe. Toss them in some olive oil, salt and pepper and a little garlic. Spread on a lined baking sheet and roast for 5 or 6 minutes at 425 degrees til just pink. They are perfect, we had them last night for a Valentine's dinner.

I usually make shrimp cocktail with frozen shrimp, but have cooked them too. I defrost them in the fridge overnight. They take minutes to pan fry. I toss them around until they get a little color.
