Glad you had a sunny and lovely vacation. Is it snowing in Buffalo today? That s u c k s. Where in FL did you go?

It's actually going to snow later today and Easter Sunday...good thing the Easter Bunny wears a fur coat!

I was 20-30 minutes south of Daytona - Ponce Inlet...and a few days at Red Sox Training Camp too. Sunny almost every day...and the day that rained was perfect for the Flea Market and grocery shopping. My best friend and I get together every year at this time.

Oh gosh! I am glad you got to get away for a while for some nice sunny weather, you guys have had such a rough winter. I remember how that would get me down, I would be so ready for sunshine and warmth. You do have beautiful summers there though, they really are the best. I hate summers down here, they are so hot and humid. I miss that nice breeze off the lake! I have a friend from Buffalo who I stayed with while there over St Pattys day who asked if she could come down for 4 days in the next two weeks. She wasn't originally planning on it but she needs a break from the weather!

Snow on Easter! I remember a couple of those and I think I remember snow on Mothers day one year too if I am not mistaken!

my favorite is THE FRESH MARKET, also rated well.....i love it so much more than wegmans mainly because it is a lot more manageable and i can get in and out of there a lot more quickly.

Fresh Market and Whole Foods is where I shop the most. We are supposed to be getting a Publix closer to my area, we do have one in Cary but it is too much of a drive for me. I don't want to drive 30-45 minutes away to grocery shop. I also go to Costco too quite a bit. I do miss Wegmans though. I haven't been in Walmart for almost 20 yrs so I cannot comment.

I think I saw that Aldis was 17 on the list. My daughters goes shopping there quite a bit and I have to say, I have been pleasantly surprised with them. We have 2 in our area and each store must differ for demographics for each area because I definitely like one quite a bit mroe than the other.

Forgot to add: Fresh Market has the most lovely flowers don't they Sunshine? I do love that store, get produce and I am addicted to the olive bar.

they have the flowers right in the front of the store.....what a way to start your shopping experience. they are gorgeous. every once in a while i pick up an orchid for my mom because she has quite a collection. she knows how to take care of them well. i also like looking at their kitchen and gift items AND their beautiful greeting cards.

love their free coffee samples, free hot spiced cider in the fall/winter, and other "tasting" days. of course behind the deli and prepared foods they will always give you a free sample. i love how the store smells and ours is super clean. i like that it is small enough that i am now friendly with some of the people behind the meat counter and behind the bakery. excellent bread and roll selections. i can spend hours there!

the olive bar is nice.....and i love their roasted garlic.

Yes!! I really love everything about that store. I love the customer service too. The older I get the more important that is to me. When I was younger, I would go to the cheapest store I could, now I am willing to pay more for good customer service. Fresh Market is about the only place down here in NC to get decent bread. I am used to the bread in Buffalo which was wonderful and made on the premises at most of the grocery stores as they all had wonderful bakeries but that is hard to come by down here. You can't even get a decent baguette down here. I love the rosemary focaccia bread there. I love all of them. It is probably best I am limited in good choices to get bread down here because I love bread!!

I also like to linger when shopping there. It is such a calming atmosphere. I know that sounds weird to say about a grocery store but I really relax when I walk into the store. LOL!!

Re: Consumer Reports Ranks Wegmans #1...

When I grocery shop I want to get in and out as quickly as possible. I do not need a lot of bells and whistles. The store most be clean particularly the meat department and the produce fresh. I seldom buy organic. I do not use store bakeries or their delis only because I prefer the small bakery and deli we've patronized for a long time. I prefer fast efficient checkout.

Many of the high end stores discussed are available within a reasonable distance but I stick with a my local chain grocery store.

Re: Consumer Reports Ranks Wegmans #1...

I have a Wegmans 5 minutes away, and hardly ever go there. It is always too crowded - someone is always in my way or I am in someone's way. Since I don't frequent it, I don't know where things are, and I feel like I'm in there forever walking in circles. I'll take my Pathmark where I can do two weeks' shopping and be home in 1/2 hour lol

Sun, I think that about covers it, except for the Super Walmart in Cockeysville, which is where we go quite often. I find Wegmans to be quite overwhelming for me.

No way is Wegmans more overwhelming than a Super Walmart!!!!

Interesting, since people living in he West don't have them, I don't see how they could come to this conclusion. We had Trader Joe's in Hdsn-Vegasand the only time I have even heard of the others is on these forums.

MM, google Wegmans. Start by looking at their photos, then read about them.

If I lived near a Wegmans, I might not ever cook again.

I hear ya!! I just went to one yesterday when I was out of town.

They also have some great put in the oven to cook and you're done entrees. The convenience in worth the price to me. Plus, it's so darn good.

I'm cooking honey brined turkey breast tomorrow that I got there. Can't wait.

Hi Melania! That's what I would like, really good quality ready to heat or eat food. I agree, the price is worth it for the convenience.

Happy Holiday Smile

Never heard of them. Must not be in our Midwest part of the country. Hey Wegmans! How's about looking here in Husker Territory?

The report showed that Trader Joe's and Costco beat them for prices, and that Walmart produce and meat was of a lesser quality.

I'd be curious to see what other factors they are using for the '#1' slot, I'm still feeding hordes of teenagers, there's no way in Hades I could or would shop there, grocery budget goes much further in other stores.

Consumer Reports often has their reports available online, you might want to check if interested. I would assume price was not a determining factor for the best of the best, it was more along the line of quality.

However, Trader Joe's and Costco both beat out Walmart on price alone, so they've said.
