I for one, am glad to be living in a society that is more tolerant, especially when it comes to this topic. My daughter will be standing up for her cousin during his wedding ceremony in August to his fiancée and I could not be any prouder. She is very open-minded, loving, and caring and is very excited to be a part of his special day.

You should be very proud that you raised a daughter who is tolerant. Hopefully, all parents will. The few left who cast judgment will soon find themselves in the minority leading to a kinder, gentler nation.

SoftRaindrops,

Beautifully stated. You are so right. I am so proud my family supports marriage equality. We have family/friends who are in long term committed relationships and participated in commitment ceremonies years ago. Once they were given the opportunity to marry, they did. They are now married and starting to expand their families. Smiley Happy

Hi Donna!

We, too have many friends and family that support marriage equality.

My grandson is the product of such a relationship and he is my light and joy....{#emotions_dlg.wub}

He is lucky to have you as his grandmother. Smiley Happy {#emotions_dlg.wub}

Thanks, Donna. He is now about 2 1/2 and the happiest little guy....{#emotions_dlg.wub}

Thank you, Noel. I saw him last weekend and he is beginning to talk. My daughter puts up videos of him on Facebook so we can stay connected. My favorite was when he was trying to clean the floor and said "I am going to clean the floor" My daughter is going to teach him right.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Of course, that's how it should be. Is the Pope in favor of g'ay marriage, though? I know he's a lot more open-minded that his predecessors, but I haven't heard his views about the marriage part.

Hi Topaz, Smiley Happy

Are you ready for this weekend's series? I'm excited!

Please join in the baseball thread tonight if you can. Smiley Happy

Ok, back to this topic. I don't think the Pope is in favor of ss marriage. Maybe someone with more knowledge will correct me if I am wrong. But, it really doesn't matter what houses of worship decide to do.

I think many of us acknowledged (until the poofing started) houses of worship can do whatever they want. That is not the issue, as I understood the tone of this thread.

It is civil marriage, through the government, that needs to be equal for all couples. It will be, eventually, but not fast enough for me. lol I'm not very patient. lol

Thanks, and I agree, but I feel bad that there's such a huge disconnect between the two factions. Hopefully the religious objectors can reconcile it with their faith and the non-religious can become more tolerant towards those who will never get on board. {#emotions_dlg.wub}

As far as the series, I am ready to go! I'll definitely join all of you in your thread and cheer our teams on. I'm hoping for a sweep by the Sox! {#emotions_dlg.devil2}

TG, I don't know of anyone who supports gay marriage who cares at all if some religious people disagree. I know I don't.

You and others are free to not support it. America is not a theocracy, the marriage under discussion is a legal contract with the government, religion has no say in that contract.

We'll have to agree to disagree about the sweep.
