Beautifully stated. You are so right. I am so proud my family supports marriage equality. We have family/friends who are in long term committed relationships and participated in commitment ceremonies years ago. Once they were given the opportunity to marry, they did. They are now married and starting to expand their families.

We, too have many friends and family that support marriage equality.

We all know there are numerous people against gay marriage on religious grounds. So be it.

Marriage in America is a contract with the government, no religion is necessary.

I don't care if houses of worship choose to perform/acknowledge marriages to sscouples.... as long as the government moves forward and in the direction of equal marriage.
