I think what needs to be mentioned in this conversation is that many people no longer watch traditional television, especially under a certain age.

Influencers/content creators, whatever you want to call them, are today’s version of TV commercials.

there are also a lot of "bargain hunters" on facebook with lots of followers that will post great deals/discounts from many places, including QVC or HSN, with links. almost all of them will disclose that they get some type of compensation from the vendor.

A compensated influence would staunchily protect QVC, their products, their prices, their quality and value. 

I wondered about one poster who posted a lot on Beauty, but she posted everywhere. Haven't read her in a long while.

Interesting post ! I'm late reading it but I guess I'm a bit slow because I have never heard of paid influencers !  Never gave it a thought that someone was really pushing a product that they might be getting paid to do it. Now that I have been made aware I will pay attention to what I read !  Thanks everyone !

I can't answer this question but I do have an opinion on compensated influencers. I subscribed to a few beauty channels on YouTube I enjoy the reviews, recommendations, and application of makeup. I don't value the opinions as much of those that get a ton of high end makeup for free (promos sent by the company). I just watched a video of someone who did a full face with her freebies. Can you actually give an unbias review for products you were given (I would love getting free stuff)?

One of my granddaughter's college roommates is currently a social media fashion influencer for several fashion brands. One is a hat brand ...she snaps a pic of herself wearing it, then raves about how much she loves it, best hat ever, etc...and gets paid thousands of dollars when they sell. She does the same for two other popular fashion brands you see often. She is a really cute girl and gets thousands of followers every tine she posts. I am just amazed she gets so much money for doing this, She is paying for her college tuition doing this.
