I buy store bought salsa almost never so wanted to taste-test for the heck of it. I bought a jar of Mission and one of Newman's Own without reading the labels.

If you need to watch your sodium intake, avoid Mission brand -- 160 mgs per 2 T.

Newman's -- 65 mgs per 2 T.

When I did the taste test, the Mission salsa saltiness was STRONG. I mixed them to try to make it palatable without wasting any.

In the store, I thought they'll probably taste exactly the same, being poured into jars in the same factory with different labels slapped on. Wrong. Who knew there could be such a vast difference in similar recipes and why does Mission think they have to saturate theirs with salt to make it taste good?

Newman's rocks!
