Gosh there have been all kinds of fun, non controversial threads deleted- no disrespect to the Pancake or other thread but what makes them so different? And please people don't throw stones at me for asking an honest question.

Pancake has been deleted several times, but after so many posters complained each time, I feel that it went on the 'do not delete' list.

If there's a thread that you feel should be around indefinitely, write to the social media team and request that they keep it up. It was probably a simple act of housecleaning.

Why not just set up threads like the Pancake thread as its own topic? Then one never has to look at it again. I don't read the thread at all, but I imagine it is a daily conversation thread for those who participate in it. It doesn't bother me.

I really don't give a hoot about how long the Pancake thread continues or any other long thread. I was responding to OP's original post. We have our picture threads & people complain about those that don't even participate. I've basically stopped because I was singled out yet others around me kept posting cute pictures.

There's many threads that have been ongoing for years...and many get so off-topic and silly, I don't know why they are still on the boards.

The most recent one about the dad who shot the daughter's BF started getting into racial areas (because the posters didn't bother to read the link, posted in the OP's topic) and there was clearly not a racial question involved, yet the last posters on the thread took it into murky waters. Poof.

Some other topics with lively discussions have been heavily edited and some posts remain yet don't make much sense. At the bottom, the msg. says 'the commenting period has closed'. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why the webbie is doing this. JMO

I think the plane thread was closed because it changed to Putin & political.
