Re: Comment Made to Me Yesterday

I too think it might be out of concern, although she has nothing to compare it to. So, this is where you get to say, Oh you have no idea...I should tell you!  Watch her turn on a dime and run!

I think it was rude. I could understand a good friend telling you that but not a stranger. We should be lifting people up and that did nothing to lift you up. You did the right thing to not comment. There is a part of me that would have wanted to respond with, "if you only knew...please don't left the health department know I left quarantine to come here"

Good grief!  Some people just have no class.  I hope you didn't let it bother you too much.

yes, some people do have no class... I met many working for years with people... clueless, classess horrible people.... but, it still would bother me. I guess you really need a hard outer shell  or a great comeback.

Yesterday, I went to Costco, to pick up my dad's prescriptions.

While I was waiting for the script to be filled, a woman, a total stranger, said to me as she walked by, "Oh, poor dear! You look so sick!"

I just smiled and said, "No, I'm just tired", and honestly, I was tired.

I can't fathom saying to a perfect stranger, "Oh, my! You look so sick!"

Would you say that to a total stranger?

I wouldn't.

In fact, I think it was kinda rude of her to say that.

I think what I should have said instead was, "You're right. I am sick. In fact, I have a highly contagious disease.". *lol*

Do you think what she said was rude?

Thoughts?

@PlaidPants2 ... OMG...She sounds like a very caring person, but since she did not know you, she should have kept her opinion to herself. If it had been a person she knew, that would have been a whole different matter.

Re: Comment Made to Me Yesterday

@Plaid Pants2   I would have said, "I'm not sick at all - I'm picking up a prescription for my father.  I'm sorry though that  you think I look sick!"

And then hopefully she would be embarrassed at her comment and not make it again to someone else!

She's probably also one of those people who approaches strangers and asks about their ethnicity.

Re: Comment Made to Me Yesterday

Seriously, who goes around telling perfect strangers that they don't look well?

Re: Comment Made to Me Yesterday

My Mother started showing signs of dementia.  She went up to a perfect stranger (a man) and was petting his head. Wait, some young woman went up to my husband and petted his head saying he had fiber optic hair. So, I guess we cant blame it on age, medical condition etc.  Let's chalk it up to inappropriate behavior that occurs upon occasion.
