I was just a kid when I became a fan of Shelley Berman, he was so funny.  Mr. Berman was 92 when he passed and evidently still working: 

Most recently he starred as Larry David's dad Nat on the popular HBO series "Curb Your Enthusiasm," which returns for Season 9 on Oct. 1

Berman, a Chicago native, received an Emmy nomination for his role as Nat. He also made several appearances on TV shows like, "Boston Legal," "The Blues Brothers Animated Series," "L.A. Law" and countless others.

From the time I was very young, I always enjoyed Shelley Berman.  RIP

An era that I remember so well will soon have no one left.

[I hope God continues to put a protective shield around Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks.  Although younger, hope Elaine May is doing well, too.]

I remember him as a child from Ed Sullivan Show. He also made a few remarkable appearances on LA Law.

When I was a little kid in Chicago we lived in Rogers Park.  My mother waited tables and, for a time, she worked in a restaurant on Morse Avenue.  A few doors down there was Ashkenaz.  The Morse location apparently burned down in the 70s but, if memory serves, they had a sandwich on their menu: The Shelley Berman.

I'm not certain, but it may have been a BLT.

What a great memory to have, just bee.  Love the twist with the BLT!  Stories such as yours are what get lost over time.
