I swear social media has dumbed down so many people. Eating Tide Pods, lighting themselves on fire, eating cinnamon by the spoonful.
Let's see, doing something that could harm/kill me or getting likes? Should not be a hard choice.
I get young people blah, blah. These same young people are driving among us, voting etc.
Yes, I'm old, but geez, use your head.
This is very disturbing. I saw a quick segment about it. It's a TikTok Challenge. What other stupid stuff can people do to fill their time?

Some people are so eager to get likes, or views, from total strangers they will do anything, including dangerous things.
In the old days my Mom used that old, "if your friends jumped off a cliff would you do it too". I gave a correct and true answer, "no", Why? Because I had common sense.
I agree. I find this to be true. The follow me crowd. If he does it, I'll do it too. Not just young people either though. Social Media has its good points and bad points.

Tik Tok doesn't seem to worry about any liability over this. Maybe we should change things and make them worry.
I've said from the start that Tik Tok is not what it seems. It's a direct delivery system of all the info on the child's phone straight to the PRC databases. If you look at all the permissions it uses, it takes access of the whole phone. Even if all the child wants to do is watch videos.
And if American youth gets damaged through risky content while being spied on during a new Cold War, that's just a bonus for China. I'm against malign foreign spying and influence against our country through the abuse of our precious American freedom of speech.

I thought political slants to posts were not allowed.
Seems to be some type of switch around here-pull if you have something to say, complain if it is not something you wish to participate and expect "banning" of certain posters.
Every single thread there is always the same ones policing and scanning for the (horrors) violation of Standards.
The IS that other website for y'all.

Whats bad is these young punks are making it harder for real ADULTS to get OTC that they need which will be used in a safe and responsible manner!!! So they are hurting people that are ill and need that medication! 😡
Parents are clueless and are also in their own social media "clouds" and need to take more responsibility in raising their kids .....
And just like the foreign scam calls theres not much that can be done from the USA since TikTiok originates outside the country .....

@chrystaltree wrote:First. Keep things in perspective and try trashing and bashing young people. This is a Tik Tok thing which means it widespread and every 16 year old in the country is doing it. Of course with all the mainstream media attention, a lot of kids and adults who never heard of it will try it now. Tik Tok is full of trash videos that people make up and post for the sole purpose of getting followers or enticing people to do ridiculous things.

60 Minutes had a VERY scary episode a while back about the origins of Tik Tok. It was developed in China and is not the easy going cutesy thing it seems to be. Once you get their cookies on any of your devices, they are there FOREVER. And if they want to sabotage half the devices on the planet, it will be easy to do.
Scary stuff.
If you have never been on Tik Tok, DON'T click on anything of theirs. On some ordinary day sometime in the future, it may trash your device. Stay away from it, at all costs.

Yeah, it's the fumes .... not the disgusting recipe ... Nyquil and chicken. Good grief.
