Re: Come Ride Our Tram

[ Edited ]

JeanLouiseFrench, I had a similar experience on the Zugspitze.  We ascended the mountain in October.  It was 1973, and so I don't recall how close to the end of October it was.

I wore a long, heavy coat that I fortunately took on my trip and low-heeled shoes.  Yes, shoes.  I think I was wearing a skirt and not slacks that day.  At the bottom of the mountain, we were experiencing nothing more than a chilly day.

When we arrived at the top of the mountain, there were at least 3" - 4" of snow, the wind was whipping and I froze!  There I was in my darling little shoes, making my way through the cold and snow.  Could not wait to descend.

[I had bought the coat at Bloomingdale's when I lived in NYC.  For some reason, I took it to Miami when I moved there.  Was that ever fortunate.  The group tour departed from Miami.  Many others on the tour always lived in Miami (or had lived there for decades), and did not own a heavy coat to take along.  They were wearing lightweight jackets on top of the Zugspitze.]

I took that tram ride under duress since I'm not a fan of heights, but so glad I did.  Loved the views.
