I wouldn't trash it. Maybe you've won a monthly drawing or something. I still call it comcast but I would make sure the gift card says xfinity.

None of this happened to me. Absolutely no phone calls or communications or questions . . . nothing.
But I guess I'd better trash the damm thing just to be on the safe side.
Well, don't just freak out. Call Comcast, at a legitimate phone number, and make sure. Don't you think it's worth your while?
I called my regular Comcast phone number and was given the sales department where I explained the situation. She looked up my account and all was in order. When I moved we signed up for a few more networks that my daughter likes. It was during a promotional period and this free gift was part of that promotion.
The gal's name was "Chastity," and I kidded her that that must be a hard name to live up to, and she was laughing. I'm sure she's heard it before!
This is completely on the up and up. They signed me up as a new customer and this was given to me because I had paid 90 days worth of bills on time and in full. She said they do this once in a while and I should just keep and enjoy my new tablet.
[Oh, and I was kidding about trashing it.]
Well then, WOO HOO!!
Mystery solved and it ended up a winner. I'm glad for you.

p.s. If it is a scam, isn't there some sort of gov agency that can document this incident and suggest what to do with a faux 'gift' ? That way, a victim wouldn't be liable for the TABLET (not phone) (Wait, corrected: Yes it's also a large phone!!) that was sent to them. Just a thought..........Maybe someone here has a few gov sites that we can keep on our bulletin boards, just in case.

Yes, the gift card says Xfinity. And I called them, see my other post. I just lucked out.

Good News, after all! (Now I feel like a negative Nellie. Oh, well, better to warn folks ahead of time than find out later on that we could have stepped in and avoided distress for/to a fellow poster......)

I didn't mind. I thought it was rather comical, but I did follow through. So thanks to all who warned me.

Hah! I didn't know a tablet was a phone. Shows you how totally uneducated I am about these gadgets. Anyway, maybe I'll like it. If not I'll give it away. My cell phone is a very old flip phone that I have to recharge every two hours, so maybe I'll enjoy this.
Years ago when I was working I ran an entire computer department. So I can't see that I will have a problem learning how to use it. I have a techie brain, have just not kept up with things.

LILAC: I made a mistake! A tablet isn't a phone, as far as I know.......lol. I'll have to edit it! Sorry!
I'm getting dizzy, re-correcting my mistakes! This tablet does appear to also be a phone. 'Whew'......!
