If one wishes to see an end to legal abortions, wouldn't it be most effective to vote for candidates supporting such legislation?
11-29-2015 01:57 PM
What is it about this Country that people want to make one thing or individual represent the masses? How did we get to this point?
Look, this man represented himself, no one else. The guns that kill people are used by one human at a time. They do not represent all of the gun owners of this country.
Unless I've missed something in this country (at least for now) we are all entitled to our ideas and opinions. Just because there are people who think abortion is wrong doesn't make them haters.
We have become a Country where if you don't think the way the more voicetress people think, you are a hater!
So, can we maybe say, I don't agree with what you are saying, but I will defend your right to say it.....
I think this is why Donald Trump is so popular. There are so many people who are tired of being grouped in with others. No one believes totally like he "TALKS". I know, I have friends from all walks of life. When you get them together they'll say, "Well I don't like when he says this, but I like when he says that". In my opinion, he is a perfect example of how so many people (more of them than those you hear about) feel they are being misrepresented.
I think(and it is my opinion) what he represents to most people is a voice (loud voice) that says, "What we agree on.....we are fed up with being politically correct and we're fighting back through him".
The problem with a free society (like we have for now) is there are no total rules made for things. There are so many 'gray' areas in the law, it's easy to skew them any way you want to use them.
That's the price you pay for a free society. The trick is to keep this society in check enough so there isn't anarchy.

Just like a certain guy on the public stage now...the lies and the untruths don't matter at all. The supporters just double down and insist that they are right. Any and all lies are accepted for the "cause."
I don't know who you are referring to but the producer of the fraudulent videos has pubically announced they were fraudulent and stated he never condoned violence. Damage control. How could anyone continue to believe in the videos after that?

Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes true to those who want it to be true.
We have posters here who say they don't trust facts.
Don't be confused by posters who don't trust facts, and those that question things. Facts, like the world has been proven to be round, not flat are facts.
"Facts" like someone recanting somethng or admitting they did wrong, doesn't mean the problem isn't real or doesn't exist there or elsewhere else, it could mean someone either lied, exaggerated/distorted the truth, or was persuaded to change their story (maybe fully true, maybe some basis in truth, maybe not) by someone for some reason. What people say, what is reported or believed to be true, isn't always 'fact'.

I won't get into politics, but I will say there was a lot of misinformation and hateful rhetoric regarding the mission of PP. People who are unbalanced react in horrific ways. My thoughts go out to the police officer's family and friends, and the two other victims who were killed in cold blood.
I'm waiting for the comments and reactions from those who spread all that misinformation on a national stage.
They are uncharacteristically quiet now.

Terrier,
I share your anger and disgust at those who feel it is their holy duty to target PP clinics, harass the patients and kill doctors. I find them to be as low a criminal as any gang member who commits murder without remorse.
I understand those who disagree with abortion. They are free not to have one. The fact is, though, that it is legal. No amount of proselytizing or protesting changes that.
********** Sad....but true. I think we will pay a heavy price for it. No, let me phrase that a little better.....I think we are paying a heavy price for it.
________________________________________________________________
If you mean the heavy price is the flat-out lawlessness of those who choose to carry out these acts of terrorism against facilites and doctors who perform legal services, then I agree with you.
If you mean the legality of abortion being a heavy price, then again I will remind you. You are free to not have one and to disapprove. You are not free to force that belief on others.
****** I thank you for reminding me that I am not free to force that belief on others just as others are not free to force theirs on me.

Criminals are evaluated for motive (first), opportunities, and their perceived benefits. It will be up to the court to see, but the suspect's own statements suggest a clear motive and (to him) perceived benefit and the opportunity was provided by access to guns. Some of the motive probably came from recent polarizing language. We all hoped that the near-assassination of Gabby Giffords and murders of her staff would lead to improved security for those at risk due to immoderate public discourse and misinformation campaigns. It's dangerous when combined with easy access to guns and legal loopholes.
But the whole problem has gotten worse instead. Colorado Springs is today's topic--it's been a long time since I've seen any mention of G. Giffords. We just forget, as if things don't happen around a powder keg when matches are readily procured--and when so many in public life and the media are vying for the title of "most violent and polarizing" rhetoric.

This issue has always attracted a lot of unstable people like the man under discussion. Fanatics.

I understand what you mean, and I can see how although the videos may be fiction, the actions within may still be happening elsewhere. I guess my question is, have we any evidence, aside from these videos, that the actions that are being suggested have really happened? Is it responsible for anyone, goverment officials included, to reference something that is false, especially if there is no other evidence, and especially following Friday's incident?

********* Terrier.....I realize you are passionate about PP and you have suffered loss. I am sorry for your loss. I feel you are being more political than you think you are. You may very well be right about, "the baby parts"....but could it be that the next day it could have been isis, or global warming or whatever.... that this man was ranting about? As others have said he targeted police, too.
Also, I don't rely on those video's one way or another. People who have worked in abortion clinics....including nurses and doctors have witnessed the murder of fully formed babies way before these video's. Some could not stomach it and even quit their jobs over it. This man had no right to do what he did, but please don't tell me you are not using this to further your cause. I sure as heck am using this post to further mine. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
Nicely put. Just because someone recanted, or admitted something, doesn't mean it, and other horrific things aren't actually happening.
And I do fail to see how those so comitted to protecting this organization, don't equate what happens there to the same level of importance they give to black lives matter, or blue lives matter (LE), etc. If that crazed man doing what he did is wrong, so is what happens there. Either life matters, or it doesn't. All life.
