College Graduate Gift Etiquette?

Our first niece is scheduled to graduate from Univ. of North Carolina this next month. We were kinda "cheap" on the high school graduation gifts, 4 so far 5th one next month too and 6 more to go, and only gave 50.00. Probably should have given 100.00. So . . . .for college should we double it and give 100.00 . . . or give what I think we should, 250.00. She plans to continue her education towards a Ph.D.

What do most other people give nieces & nephews for college graduation?
