Yes as a parent of a former college athlete I am spouting misinformation. And I did answer your question. You did not like the answer. Not all college athletes are football players. This would also impact them as well.

BTW, college athletes already receive a stipend. Its not much but it is paid to them during season.

The fact of the matter is students are not employees. Their pay is a degree and for some a scholarship. The day my tax money "pays" a student to be a student, I will take to the streets with the rest of us who paid our way on our own with no special treatment. I am sick of whining students making demands they have no right to make. And I am certainly not going to go along with some whining athlete who wants a guarantee of a charmed life while he or she has made the personal choice to play in a sport where they might get an injury. A university can guarantee that safety measures are taken, but can't guarantee that every athlete will come out of a sport unscathed.
