I think next weekend I will go apartment hunting with my daughter and one of her current suitemates and her Mom. They say the leases and best rates disappear quickly for next Fall semester . . . seems early to me but guess I better get busy. The other two suitemates will have to stay in residence halls due to sorority.
The thread about the smoke/fire will be top of my list in asking about:
Smoke and Heat Detectors
Escape Route Plan for upper floors
Rental Insurance
What else should I ask about? They have individual leases so that helps cover if a roommate turns into a flake or something. We're going for 2 bedroom vs. 4 bedroom and not knowing the other two people although cost is a little higher for 2 bedroom. Still high for a small college town and the town is the college but they know that and charge accordingly.
I guess one year in the residence halls is enough . . . but still glad she was able to experience that . . . I lived at home and husband had apartment with his two sisters, three in college at the same time, yikes to your wallet on that. At least we'll only have one year with two in college unless she goes for advanced degree which she very well may do.
