Re: Collectibles that are totally worthless

I believe it runs in cycles. What might not be worth much now might be years from now. The only reason to collect is because you love something not for the potential money you can make.

Re: Collectibles that are totally worthless

I recently dug into a room that holds seasonal decor and odds and ends, and found Steinbach Nutcrackers, several of which I want to sell either because they were given to me and/or I don't like them, so looked on ebay and elsewhere, and they are listed in the hundreds, depending on the nutcracker.

Re Beanie Babies, I doubt that Toys for Tots would accept them even if they have never been played with and the tags are still on, but I think I will ask re about it. I always thought I would have a place to display them for my own amusement, but that has not happened yet.

Through the years, I have only bought what liked, never thinking of selling or what value they had, except that I knew the nutcrackers would have value, but not why I bought them. I think most of them, if not all, I bought on sale after Christmas.

IF & When antique furniture ever becomes as popular as it was in the mid to late 1980's . . . I think with all the antiques that are being painted for ""chic"" decor will increase the value of original finish pieces. But I don't go buying antiques . . . I seem to inherit them and even then it is more than I have room for.

I have the McDonald's Disney Mrs. Pots and Chip. They came in my son's happy meal and they were so well made that I put them in my curio cabinet and I still have them. They don't look cheap or like a toy.

Re: Collectibles that are totally worthless

Totally worthless is such a subjective term.

While the few collections I have, have little if any monetary value, they have a great deal of sentimental value to me. That not worthless.

Are you saying in the hundreds as there are tons of them? I think that is what you mean?

Whenever you see brands like that start hitting the shelves at Tuesday Morning, TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Stein Mart, etc. you know they are heading for a tumble in collectible values.

Steinbach, Madame Alexander, Fitz & Foyd and many, many others.

Also, especially anything Enesco produces. Used to be Enesco Christmas ornaments and they weren't cheap even in the 90's at 25.00 and up a pop retail. Precious Moments. Cherished Teddies. Ummm Mary's Moo Moo's. Charming Tails. All come and gone in popularity. I think now their big producer is Jim Shore. Yep, I have a few, I like them. The original Nativity, a few Angels, a few Santa's, SEVERAL Disney pieces, and at least one piece or more for Easter, Halloween & Thanksgiving. OVERKILL when it comes to production and sooooooooooooooo many pieces introduced all the time.

I was shocked to see what that bear was going for. I also saw some cheap ones too. Very confusing lol I saw one for 9.99 it is probably fake.

Hi, lulu, Ginny alumni always remember how adorable those 6" dollies were. The clothes, in my day, were handmade in Medford, MA by stay-at-home moms with good sewing machines, to strict specifications.

I grew up in MA, and every drugstore and dept store had huge "Ginny" displays. Every doll had a hat, dress, socks, shoes. and often parasols, sunglasses and gloves. Sigh. The costumes made me fascinated with clothes and accessories.

i had a ginny doll, too. before her i had terri lee dolls. my grandma made clothes for her.

no mention of radkos, so they must be worth millions!
