Coffee grinds from my Kcup are everywhere

Made me a cup of coffee this morning (not in My K-cup but a regular one) and when I pulled the mug away it was full of grinds. I opened up the pod area and grinds were everywhere. I looked at the pin and nothing was inside, clogged, etc. Ran 4 cups of water to completely clean the grinds out. I wonder if there was something wrong with that Kcup or my machine. Anyone else have that happen? I've had it since December and make maybe 3 cups a week
