Re: Clothing after retirement

Retired about 9 years ago and got rid of all my work clothes. I own no dresses or skirts. I wear mostly jeans and tee shirts also. I still keep two or three pair of black slacks and a few nice tops/sweaters for ""dress"".

I rarely see anyone dressed up anymore. I've recently been to my niece's college graduation and then a few weeks ago to a HS graduation and wore my black slacks and a nice top and sandals and I was WAY overdressed at both. I realize that I graduated HS decades ago but I can remember parents wearing dresses and suits and ties to our HS graduation. I actually saw kids (I'm guessing siblings of graduates at the HS graduation) running around in cutoff jean shorts and tee shirts (granted the HS graduation was held out in football stadium but still).

Re: Clothing after retirement

I buy because I want clothes, not need them at this point. I wore scrubs to work so I always had to allow a portion of my budget for work clothes and shoes, those work shoes seemed to wear out so fast and cost a fortune. Now , I only need summer clothes and a few cardis because I live in Fl. I try to resist buying as my closet is very full.

Re: Clothing after retirement

I still buy whatever clothing I like or want. I did donate most of my suits to a charity resale shop, but things like jackets, dressy blouses or sweaters still get paired with a pair of jeans.

Re: Clothing after retirement

I had to wear a uniform at work and now that I'm retired I volunteer at an animal shelter so don't have the need for "dressy" clothes. I still buy casual clothes but am good at recycling my older things with accessories, etc.

Clothing after retirement ... as little as possible.

Fate whispers to her, "You cannot withstand the storm." She whispers back, "I am the storm."

Just because you no longer work is no reason to go out into the world in a t-shirt and jeans.

Yes, the horrors of it all. I "go out into the world" to Target, the grocery store and the bank in jeans and a Talbots t shirt. Gasp.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

There's already too much sadness in the world without me doing that- LOL.
