I do not think of dot com websites as charities.

I try to go only to dot org sites.

These days I prefer to focus first on the needs of my city, and my state. I like to see the results of my donations, not have them go to a nebulous pot.

I also do not like to engage with unproven websites.

I go to Susan Love breast cancer research, stray cat alliance, Los Angeles and second harvest, and we donate to couple other ones. They are all tax ID accredited charities. Also, I recommend going online to the site to check charities and you can see their rating and where money goes.

Didn't know about this but I hope people look into the charities before donating. With so many options out there, there's no reason to waste money on overhead/admin costs/etc when there are some charitable orgs who don't have that.

@ThinkingOutLoud   So true, some charities have such high salaries, and overhead!,

Before donating to a charity, it is wise to do your homework to see how they are rated. Two sources, available online, for charity evaluation are Charity Watch and Charity Navigator. I subscribe to Charity Watch as I am glad to support them.

I've never heard of this before and don't understand how it works.  If all you have to do is click, where does the money or funds to help the charity come from?

Ads. The more clicks the more ad revenue .

I remember doing this a while back, but lost the website and forgot. Could you please post the name of the website.  Thanks.

I would bet it wasn't this website that gave you a virus since I and many others have been doing this for over 20 yrs. just fine.
