I feel like the rock idea could lead to a host of problems including lawsuits against the school district. Imagine if a shooting did take place and the students who ran or played dead survived while the kid who stood up with a rock (and the "shoot me first" sign that should go with it) is shot. What do you think would happen in the aftermath?

Seriously, a school official telling children to engage with an armed gunman is a big mistake.

@SusieQ_2  Agree.

btw:  Just because some of us do not agree with rocks being the solution doesn't mean that we are not aware, do not care, have had nothing to say in RL.

I know where I was today; how about everyone else?

Still in a walker.  The wound is not healing.  I was also glued to the tv and crying often.

I'm glad, @cherry, because many of your responses sounded as if you were peeved at the posts.

This is a highly charged topic. We all want the best outcome.

Re: Classrooms are armed with a bucketful of rocks

You asked for quotes in another thread, @cherry.

You're not going to change the opinions of those who you say want to continue the status quo (at least that's what I think you'e saying).

And @suzyQ3 is right that many of us care.  That's why this subject is so charged.  I believe there are more who want change and improvement and better conditions than there are those who want it unchanged.

So here's another quote for the collection:

I don't expect to, but it is troubling ,when  I see some, with so little compassion, for what others have suffered @GingerPeach

@cherry  Sorry but you cannot refer to posters who do not like this idea as "sneerers", cherry.

That isn't a lack of compassion; it's thinking about the pros and cons of this idea.

While those classrooms are storing buckets of rocks IN CLOSETS other people ARE trying to raise awareness and giving suggestions.

If we cannot discuss pros and cons of an idea then we reach a standstill and nobody wins in the end-especially the children.
