Re: Classical music

[ Edited ]

Nice to see fellow classical fans and enjoyed the posts. I grew up with my Mother sewing or knitting listening to Public Radio in the evening sewing or knitting.  I have my Bose on at night with classical that helps me sleep. I have PBS in the car since I bought it two years ago and never changed the station. When  I was married I had to play my  classical music softly as the ex hated it. I enjoy area Symphony Orchestra  as well.

I recently got into, Cello. Yo Yo Ma.  A few years ago we had a guest Cellist in our small town under an art grant. I don't recall his name but his Grandfather escaped Russia to England and got out on the last boat. Lenin wanted to keep the Russian Symphony  Orchestra intact. He still played that very Cello. I became enthralled with Sheku who played at Harry and Megan's wedding.

I was in Vienna and enjoyed Strauss and every New Year's the Vienna Philharmonic is a great on PBS. Look forward to it every year.

I took piano lessons for 14 years. I LOVED doing this.

I taught piano and guitar for a very long time. Then I started teaching English and vocal music in school (28 years--having a burst aneurysm brought a sudden end to that pursuit). I joined OLLI (a senior citizen program) where I continued teaching English classes and also directed a choir for 10 years (Covid brought an end to that: community centers were not permitted to have live performers).

Music has been a huge factor in my life: I have been very fortunate to have experienced it in so many ways.

Thank you all so much for posting.  So interesting to read, and what a surprise.  Never did expect such a response, but I'm so happy to read all of it here. Thanks again!
