On-line sercvices only.....
‎03-21-2020 05:19 PM
Our diocese is holding no Masses until possibly Palm Sunday....depending on how the situation has progressed. The parish staff has been emailing regularly....links to different devotional sites, streaming Mass from the Cathedral, links for parents to assist in teaching their kids, etc.
Only small, private funerals with limited attendance. Anyone wanting to go to Confession can call and schedule a time. If a dying person needs the Sacrament of the Sick the priest will still go to them.

99 percent of the ones in our town are closed. one friend that goes to one with a congregation of 20 is still having services and even had a dinner this week.
I dont feel that is a very good idea!!
Some are doing Online Stream of Services which is so good.
No, I think most in this area are not. Most ministers in this area are having online services, but the churches are closed.
Last Sunday, I begged my elderly parents to stay home. They would not. By Wed., a lady that they go to church with was very ill, went to dr., who tested her for type a and b flu, both were negative. They told her she had a virus, and to quarantine herself for 14 days. I have been worried to death about my parents but the lady is feeling better now, so hopefully it wasn't coronavirus. I don't think she has gotten her results back yet.
People need to heed the warnings and stay home!

We've gone to online Sunday service, (Facebook), but all in-person activities shut down, except the pastors are still running the food pantry full tilt, and have ramped that up even more since the virus.
Our pastor has also started doing evening daily devotionals online for us, from his little study. Those brief little talks are very uplifting and encouraging, salted with his usual quick wit and theological erudition. I'm impressed by the continuing care shown for the congregation, and the whole town.

Just got an email from our rector. The Cathedral is now entirely closed and Holy Week and Easter services have been cancelled.

An email from my pastor yesterday mentioned that our church will be closed through April 12th (at least) and talked about how hard it will be on all of us, especially since that period includes Holy Week and Easter. He said that, while we anticipate having online worship, this does not preclude us having another 'Resurrection Celebration' once we are allowed to gather again. I really like that idea.

On order from our governor, our church has cancelled all services and meetings for two weeks. This time frame may be extended based on the coronavirus status at the end of the initial two weeks. Yesterday we got an email stating our pastor would have a short sermon via Facebook, and a short podcast on Sunday.
I know of only one church within a radius of 30 miles having Sunday services. They've built a "stage" in their parking lot with several microphones available. Cars will be parked in the lot according to size. People must stay in their cars for the duration of the service.

While the church may be open for individual prayer, no social gathering are permitted in this area. I assume funerals are still being held, with social distancing in place.
Shoekitty said: I live in Santa Clara County in California. My daughters friend's died less than 2 weeks ago, they cannot have service. He cannot be buried by cemetery law during a pandemic. This was as of this past weds. I haven't heard anything since then.
