Re: Christmas past

[ Edited ]

DD was born in November, and I got the bright idea to make stockings for us. I was planning to embroider our names in script and some little Christmas symbols next to our names.

I worked on them the week before, thinking I'd have plenty of time. I didn't. I still had things to wrap when we came home from Christmas Eve services. So I wrapped and went back to my stockings. I wasn't paying attention to the time, but I had the TV on.

Finally, I went upstairs to bed and flopped across it. DH wasn't there. I didn't remember the phone ringing, so no emergency calls. He came out of our bathroom fresh from his shower and dressed nicely. I asked him where he was going. He said he was going to the airport to get my mom. I asked what time it was. He said 5:00. I had just drifted off to sleep when DD started to cry. She was a preemie and it was time for her to eat.

That was the first time I stayed up all night Christmas Eve. Ironically something has kept me up all night ever since. After we unwrap the presents, and I serve the breakfast casserole, that no one wants because they're eating candy, I go back to bed for a while.

(Last year I did get to bed a little earlier because I led the Christmas morning service! Christmas Day was Sunday, and although we had already had two services Christmas Eve, we needed to have our regular service. I planned our regular Sunday service. There were more people there than I thought, about 20. I kept the sermon short, and we had a sweet service!)   Smiley Happy

We'll see what this year is like! Smiley Wink
