Christmas Break Yay!

[ Edited ]

I just have Monday for work.  Hoping they give us half a day! We start our Christmas break from this coming Tuesday to New Years day.  We come back Jan 2, 2020.  Have all week to practice writing 2020.  Technically I'm a state employee.  So we set aside holidays like Veteran's Day, etc to use for our week off at Christmas.  Only employees at university can do this.  In addition, we always get Christmas Eve off.  have no plans to go anywhere this year.  Just plans to catch up with stuff I kept putting off.

Are you a teacher?  OK, so out where I live I think teachers have off starting 23 December until January 6, 2020.

That's off for employees too.

It's the same in other areas where I live (i.e. Fairfax, Arlington, etc.).

But if we have one sprinkle of snow out where I live....the schools close.  Other areas are open.  We've already had one or two days closed.

Other people don't understand it, but we are rural and the other areas are cities.

Our roads are still like country roads.  Also we encompass mountains.

I mention this because every year the school year always has to go over for makeup days.

Couldn't wait for today to end.  Between vacation and holidays, I don't return until Jan 2.  I'd really like to stay home, but heading out of dodge for a week to visit family.

Congratulations! I am sure many people would like to be that fortunate. Enjoy your time off. There is nothing like being able to spend quality time with family and friends, over these next few weeks.

LOL.  Yes I have work today and Monday.  The rest of the week until Jan 2, 2020, I'm off.

I'm not a teacher.  I work at a university.  I do easearch for teachers and grads. Our Christmas break.  I work at a public university.  I'm classified as a state worker, but our holidays are different.  We have to be there when the students are there.

Not too well known, if you work at a university, your child can go there for FREE! (Providing he/she qualifies SAT, etc) We have tuition remission. So my son, who is in high school can enter the school, if we wants to.
