WOW.

That is something that I can not fathom much less want to experience.

Hello,

As a Montana native I know and remember the chill of the weather. As children I wonder how we walked to school in brutle tempatures.

And yet I miss the upcoming holidays and sibling enjoying themselves even with the

temp's.

Merry Christmas to you all.

@Kachina624

That has our record breaking wind chill of -50 beat out in the Eastern plains of Colorado in Sterling. Wow.

Do people live in Elk Park?  Or is it just a mountain pass?

I am not familiar with that area so any posters from Montana?

Either way, that temp is just brutal; almost apocalyptic!

@Cakers3    Probably a lot of elk but they obviously have a weather reporting station, and a volunteer fire department.  Maybe a suburb of Butte?

I'm  in the NE, the temperature is zero but wind chill -24. I got up early to make sure the bird feeders were filled and to remove the snow/ice. The birds have been constant at them all morning. Took care of the stray yard cats too. I have electric heat and the wires are underground so, unlike so many others, I shouldn't lose power.

@Cakers3  Western states are not heavily populated.  The largest city in Wyoming is just over 65,000 people. Looking at photos, it looks more like a large town.  The most people are in Colorado.  This may change in the future as more and more people leave California for Idaho, Montanna, etc.
