I was just reading that the city of Chester has the dubious distincition of being one the most dangerous cities to live in the U.S. for 2015. It is currently ranked #2.  I never even heard of city called Chester.

Anyone familiar with this city?

Chester is next to Philadelphia.  West Chester is the home of QVC.

Oh my goodness.....I didn't know that.  I guess West Chester is a kind of suburb.  I was just so started to see a city in PA as such a dangerous place to live.  And well Chester can't be as big as say Philadelphia or Pittsburgh.

Philadelphia is located between Chester and West Chester. The cities are not adjacent, as you might think. Many miles apart. West Chester is a beautiful upper middle class suburban college town. I lived there for 6 1/2 years back pre-QVC and DS#1 and I are grads of WCU.

Thanks for the info.  I googled Chester.  Detroit is #3 with Camden New Jersey coming in as #1.  At least I had heard of Camden.  The other ones were Saginaw as #4 and Oakland as #5.

Chester, PA is a town near me. It's been heading downwards for quite a while. The big industry there is a Boeing plant that's been there forever. They used to have a Sun shipyard too, but that closed thirty (or so ) years ago. Chester Crozer Hospital is about the only other major employer there. The median household income is around $30,000,  so there's not a lot of hope.

Chester has always had the reputation for being a rough place. West Chester on the other hand is lovely. I took some courses there one summer at the university long before QVC. Lots of big old trees and vine-covered buildings. It's so far West of Philly, I'm not sure it's a suburb.

I've been there a couple times.  It's one of those areas you have to be aware of your surroundings.

When I was a little girl, we lived in Berwyn, PA, which is in the West Chester area.  Nice, quiet neighborhood.

I believe I had 2 cousins who went to nursing school in Chester back in the late 1960's.  They attended Penn Morton College. (I think)  One cousin recently retired from Crozer.  She spent her entire career there.
