Re: Chaz Dean (Wen) Being Sued For Hair Loss

I tried Wen for about a month and I wasn't blown away, and I think it is high priced.  But, then again, if I was wowed I would buy some stock and vats of it.  FYi, there are other manufacturers making the same type of cleansing.  Worth looking into.

@KingstonsMom Maybe a little harsh, yes. My biggest peeve about her post, though, was she admits to not using a product according to directions, then complains it doesn't work...that's hardly giving it a fair chance, right? If she'd left out the part about how much she used (which was probably less than half of what is recommended for her hair length), I would've just offered some advice.

It happens that I use WEN, and like it a lot, but if others don't like it, for whatever reason--after using it correctly--I'm not going to be "harsh" with them.

Regardless of 4 pumps or 15 pumps, hair shouldn't fall out in large quantities.

If you listen to Chaz on his instructions, he says for people with long hair, rather than use 8 pumps at once, use 4 pumps then repeat.  That way you have 8 total per cleanse.  Get a grip on yourself @vermint.  If you are going to rip one a new one over their post.... make sure you read it first.  Last I knew...4 plus 4 equals 8.

Re: Chaz Dean (Wen) Being Sued For Hair Loss

@Keels3229 - What Chaz SAYS for people with long hair, is to work in 4 pumps crown to mid-shaft and then 4 pumps mid-shaft to ends, rather than plop 8 pumps on the top of their head and try to work it all the way down! So that is 8 PUMPS PER CLEANSE.

In the 32 oz. size the no. of pumps is 16 to 24 pumps are recommended for longer/thicker hair. If you split that in half as recommended on the bottle, that's 8 to 12 pumps PER CLEANSE.

In the 16 oz. size the  no. of pumps is 20 - 40 for  longer/thicker hair. So that's still 10 to 20 pumps per cleanse.

The poster said she has LONG hair, so those are the numbers I used.

Ok @vermint I'll bite back.  If you're going to quote me, get it right.

I have long blonde hair in good condition.  I would used 4 pumps, rinse then repeat with 4 additonal pumps.  That's a total of 8.

Re: Chaz Dean (Wen) Being Sued For Hair Loss

@Keels3229 I get what you're saying, I do! But that not what I said, or what Chaz says. You should be applying 4 pumps crown to mid-shaft, work it in a bit, then apply 4 MORE pumps mid-shaft fo ends. Work all that in, with some water, THEN rinse. That's 8 pumps total for the 1st cleanse. After that, repeat with 8 more pumps in the same way. Make sure you get it down to your scalp, and that the product is frothed up before you rinse.

I believe, absolutely, that Wen can make someones hair fall out...ANY product has that capability (Pantene did it to me!). But I really think that you are not using enough to get your hair and scalp really clean, and after a few weeks, that can cause problems.

I'm sorry if I sounded harsh, but so many come here proclaiming that Wen (or any product) doesn't work for them...but they aren't using it right.

If it really causes hair loss then maybe some should slather it on their legs and armpits.  Would make a great depilatory......if true.

i have no comments on the worth of this product.  However i know that i would not do all that pumping and slathering and repeat.  It's just hair.

Re: Chaz Dean (Wen) Being Sued For Hair Loss

Boy, I gave up using WEN ages ago, partially because I had difficulty doing all the math just to get my hair washed at 4:30 in the morning! Coffee has a far higher priority for me that figuring "how many pumps" goes where! It It did nothing for my hair either!
