I haven't yet found a reason to use it over relying on my inherent intelligence combined with my usually spot on instincts. Someday maybe.

@monicakm At this time, I have no idea what it is and apparently, I'm not missing out. I asked my husband just now and he says..."a chalk box???" I said nooo a chat bot - he replied "I don't know what the h*** you are talking about". 😂Sounds like we don't need to get one.

I downloaded the app and do fun stuff like this. How Stanley Cup looks vs his mental image of himself. Haha

I find that the information provided by these AI bots like ChatGPT is often inaccurate because they're just pulling stuff off the internet, including from social media. Especially technical information, and science info. And medical info.
I was using an AI bot to try to decipher some jargon in a pathology report and the info it was giving me was wildly, horribly out-in-left-field inaccurate. Better to stick with reputable information sources like the Mayo Clinic web site. Or one's doctor.
My husband was giving it math and physics questions and was shocked by how terribly inaccurate the answers were that ChatGPT was giving him. Does not bode well for the future that kids are using these bots for schoolwork.

this is another one of those tech inventions that could be great or terrible, depending on human motives and manipulation

@SilleeMee wrote:There was a story on the news the other day about a young man and his wife. They were having marital problems so the husband started using a chatbot to have conversations about his marriage. He got addicted to the bot and spent very little time talking with his wife. He said that the bot offered him more support and care that he needed to help him get through the rough patch in his marriage. But it turned out that the advice the bot gave him was to leave his wife.
They are trying to work things out but it's disturbing to me.
@SilleeMee - I think I remember seeing a movie like this. It sounds like this guy was falling for the chatbot!
I just looked it up - it's Jexi, with one of my favorite comic actors Adam Devine. So funny!

@beach-mom glad you liked Stanley's photos. He thinks of himself as an apex predator 😆

AI isn't something that everyone will need to use or maybe ever use. For those working, many of us will use it at work, but it's usually not chat gpt or grok. We use a paid AI service in my company.
For those not working, you can easily learn to use it to make memes or fun pics like @smoochy made with her cat. Or have it write stories as also said.
The AI that comes up when one googles something is exactly as explained upthread. It just pulls various info from multiple sources and gets it up quickly. Very frequently incorrect or contradicting itself.
In the end, if you don't need it professionally, one is probably just better off using a regular search engine and sources you know and trust.

Not sure if I have or for what--maybe tho--asked AI about a product from AMZ---does that count?
