CHARITY NAVIGATOR is a thumbs up for me too....one local animal shelters wonders why they dont get as many donations as other animal charitable organizations....perhaps its because Charity Navigator shows the Humane Society pays her $200,000 a year SMH....People donate where the majority of donations goes to the cats and dogs!

We only give to local charities now. mostly to specific local causes that our church funds. I don't really understand donating on behalf of victims in the Ukraine when the Ukraine itself is in crisis and needs so much assistance. Same with our own homeless.

When I see the constant ads for St Judes, the Shriners, and the suffering animals (especially on the Hallmark channel), I have to think how much is that TV time costing them? Playing on people's sympathies is pathetic, IMO.

WCK is now my charity of choice. They provide food to everyone who needs it in times of disaster and great need.

I only give to St Judes, Shriners and The local Humane Society. We have given billions to Ukraine without any accountability.

@Folks!
Usually I have to dig for this info about my preferred charities.
I specifically want to know "Admnistrative Costs." And Costs, Effectiveness used in soliciting donations.
This "Charity Navigator" offers even much more! And I dont have to dig as hard as I usually do to find out this info! Thank you!
Of the few bills I pay by mail, I write my then "preferred charity" on the outside, back of the mailed envelope. Free Ad!

Every week we got another full envelope from one charity including gloves, dish towel, pot holder or whatever. Cutting them off. Contribution only stimulates more envelopes. Makes me so mad.

Yes! Because they share ttheir mailing lists. You give to one and the floodgates open up. Almost all of the money they collect goes to salaries and administration costs.

The TV stations give the Charity Ads free time
most ads for nonprofits such as the ASPCA and HSUS are run through donated airtime (often in hard-to-fill time slots). The ads cost the charity nothing, and the broadcaster deducts the value of the PSA as a donated service.
