Re: Changing tastes as we age

I never wore gray and in the last year or two I found out that I can wear that color provided it's the right gray shade.

Re: Changing tastes as we age

For years my mantra has been, "Change is Growth."

Now that I've reached Senior status, there are many things, e.g., a level of dressing (@momtochloe Woman Wink), holiday decorating, laborious or elaborate baking, etc., I feel, "been there, done that, over it."  In home decor, I was more formal than now.

With food, I have not noticed a change in flavor preferences as much as I have noticed a change in appetite.  I cannot eat as much as I did when I was younger/more active.

Strive for respect instead of attention. It lasts longer.

Re: Changing tastes as we age

Yeah, I have to say that my taste is everything from colors to clothing to food to jewelry has changed from the day I was born and I expect that I continue to change until the day I die.  I hope so anyway.  I don't ever want to be stuck in a time warp.  I'm not at all the same person I was 10 years ago.  I'm certainly not the same person I was 20 years ago.  In terms of clothes, I have become more casual and I while I take fashion risks, I also know what works for me now and I wear what works for me and what I like.  I don't really care much about what's "in style".  That's the 56 year old me.  They 46 year old me lived in deathly fear of being "out of style".  10 years ago I wore black, tan, gray and very little color.  But now I love color in my tops.  Who knows what I'll be like at 70...lol

I can relate to that.  From the time I was a child, I loved lemon meringue pie.  Loved it!  I always had one for special ocasions.  And then suddenly, without warning or a reason, I just could stand lemon meringue pie.

I used to hate cranberry sauce. Now I literally won't eat turkey without it.

Re: Changing tastes as we age

I have marched into middle age with a bang!  More color in my wardrobe, the essentials of good make-up, eyelash extensions and good bags. I wear more make-up now than I ever did.

Re: Changing tastes as we age

I was one of those "Ivory Snow" girls, my makeup routine consisted of lipstick...period.  I had oily skin anddidn't believe in moisturizers.  Ha! After I put on my moisturizer, I put on my eyebrows with a swish!  Anastasia eyebrow pomade.  I may or may not go out and the only living being who sees me are the dogs.  That's okay, I do it for MYSELF.

Tomorrow, I ave errands to do, see two friends in the hospital besides the usual and I will do it in style.  No comfort shoes or milky/silky/slinky/qwacker outs for me.
