I was just wondering if anyone else has had a change in the colors or foods or pretty much anything else that you like as you have aged.

I am 43 and I have NEVER in my life liked anything pink. But now, with my complete salt & pepper hair I have found that pink really brings out the beauty of the nice silver in it. I've been buying a few more things in pink and my son has even noticed.

So far that's about the only change I've really noticed but I'm sure more will be coming along in time.

How about you?

Re: Changing tastes as we age

My Mom had grey silver hair and back then she used to wear dark tops.  I was sitting at her kitchen table one day and said "you know Ma I would love to see you in pink and light pastel tops".  Sure enough the next time I visited her out came the pink top-she looked really pretty-she even liked it!

Talk about change-my decoration of my house went from 21 years old-1970's country to now an elegant french country stye -no primitives for me.

I used light colors and pastel soft tints in my home also.

I'll bet the compliements keep coming for you!

I never liked green and now I do.  I went through the days when some hospitals were painted a sickly green on their walls, and then there were the avocado color kitchen appliances.

All of a sudden, I like green!  I bought a green plaid knit shirt from QVC for fall, a mint green leather purse for spring, and recently an olive green denim jacket.  Oh, and a forest green nail polish for later in the season, and the new OPI Washington olive green polish for fall.

I used to hate wearing the color red, even though that is one of the colors that looks good on me.  Now I seem drawn to really dark red and wine colors (but never purple!)

They say the trick is to not put a color that doesn't look good on you next to your face.  Use it for an accessory, like a handbag or maybe a ring or bracelet.

Re: Changing tastes as we age

I think if we are growing and maturing and expanding our horizons, we will like new things throughout our lives, be it food, colors, styles in fashion or home decor.

I tend to like my things for a very long time, but I'm always finding things that didn't used to appeal to me, that now do.

Re: Changing tastes as we age

Thinking about it   ~~~~~   I can't think of anything.

My color sense and style developed/evolved and matured by my early 20s and I still dress in a similar fashion and color palette now that I'm older and retired.  (I worked in the same type environment my whole working life.)  Now fewer dresses and more pants ... but same styles and colors.

I've always dsiliked floral prints ... still dislike them.  I've always loved animal prints and abstract prints ... still wearing them.  I always loved accessories ... still love accessories.

I've always liked my food on the spicy side - still do.  Since It's just me now ... I don't have to take any else's tastes into account, so I do make more "flavorful" foods.

At age 60 I  find less is best.  I wear less jewelry, less makeup, classic, more simple apparel. I like things less complicated now. That has been the most noticeable change over the past 10 years.

Re: Changing tastes as we age

Growing up, I was a really picky eater.  If something didn't appeal to me, you could not get me to even take one small bite of something.  I'm still a picky eater and refuse to try certain things but, at the same time, I eat far more foods than I did as a kid.

My taste in colors really haven't changed much.  I never did care for all the girly pinks & purples and still don't althought I've had a purple top or two  over the years.  I never liked the color green.  I just didn't think it was pretty and my mom LOVED it (Green carpeting, appliances, furniture,  clothing, etc.).  I'm still not a huge fan of it but, again, I have had a couple of green clothing items over the years.  I was never into Orange but I've been on an orange kick the past couple of years.  You see a lot more of it than you used to in clothing & accessories.
