Changing The Clocks

We went BACK 4 months ago and now we go AHEAD. I never got around to changing my car clock in the Fall and decided not to bother - and that made me wonder what is accomplished by the time change in the year 2012.

Any ideas?

(my car electronics has more options and menus than my television)
